Aberystwyth care homes rated excellent

Shaftesbury Hafan y Coed and Shaftesbury Brodawel – Aberystwyth services supporting people with disabilities – are recognised for the excellent level of care and support provided.

Shaftesbury Hafan y Coed

Hafan y Coed, a Shaftesbury operated care home supporting adults with learning disabilities in Aberystwyth, is celebrating an outstanding inspection result following a visit from CIW on 25 March 2026.

The service achieved excellent in care and support and good across wellbeing, environment, and leadership and management.

Located on the outskirts of Aberystwyth, Hafan y Coed provides personalised, high-quality care for up to seven residents, with a strong focus on independence, dignity and community inclusion.

CIW praised the home’s “high-quality service from a team of extremely skilled staff” and noting that residents receive “an exceptionally personalised and creative approach” to planning and delivering support.

Jane Percy, Executive Director of Care Operations said: We are delighted that CIW were able to see in action the importance placed on empowerment at this service, from care plans to accessible communications and fun activities, this service is focused on promoting independence and choice so that those that live there can live a flourishing life.”

Shaftesbury Brodawel

Shaftesbury Brodawel, a care home supporting adults with learning disabilities in Aberystwyth, is celebrating a highly positive outcome following its CIW inspection on 24 March 2026. The service achieved an excellent rating for care and support and good ratings for wellbeing, environment, and leadership and management.

In particular the service was recognised for wellbeing, reflecting a culture where people are treated with dignity and respect and are supported to build on their strengths. Those that live there have as much control as possible over their daily routines and are encouraged to identify and pursue their own health and wellbeing outcomes.

Stuart Dryden, Deputy Director of Care Operations commented: “We are delighted with this inspection outcome. It reflects the dedication and passion of our team in Wales, who work every day to ensure residents live well, achieve their goals and feel truly at home.”
