Voted the UK's fastest marathon by Runner's World, this is perfect as your first distance run or for setting your personal best! The Edinburgh Marathon is the second largest in the UK (only beaten by London).
If a whole marathon isn’t for you, there are plenty of ways to be part of the festival. The Half Marathon takes in stunning views across the city before arriving at Mussleburgh. There are 5k and 10k races for everyone still getting into running, and this is a day out for the whole family with four races open to juniors (11-18 years old).
With multiple distances to choose from, Edinburgh Marathon Festival has something for everyone. Lace up your trainers and make every mile count by raising funds to help children, young people and adults live a life that adds up for them.

The atmosphere at the Edinburgh Half Marathon is something I'll never forget.
From the moment you arrive, there is a real sense of excitement. Thousands of runners are gathering for different reasons: some are chasing personal bests, some are running their first half marathon, and many are fundraising for causes close to their hearts.
As a first-time half marathon runner, I worried I might feel intimidated, but it was exactly the opposite. There was a real sense that everyone wanted everyone else to succeed.
The finish area was particularly special. You could see the emotion on people's faces as months of training came together in one unforgettable moment. Some runners crossed the line laughing, some crying, and many doing a bit of both.
